Too Early

  Sometimes, death arrives like a whisper, Uninvited, unforgiving, unkind  It tiptoes in when hearts are full, And leaves only silence behind. I’ve pleaded with You , With hands folded and heart undone  Can’t You wait? Just a little while? Let them see their children growing. Let them laugh a few more times, Feel the sun on weary skin, Hold the hands they’ve always held, Let love win  just once again. Why must the good be taken first? Why must the stories end midway? A breath, a blink, and all is changed — Joy turned to ash in a single day. I’ve known this pain — it’s not new. I met it the day my amma flew. That quiet goodbye still echoes loud, I carry her voice through every crowd. And now again, I stand and watch, Another soul on that fragile line Between this world and the unknown, While prayers and tears intertwine.
